CP Reviews Cyclone Preparations in City

BHUBANESWAR: Police Commissioner RP Sharma on Friday held a review meet the officials of BMC, BDA, Fire, CESU and Works departments in view of the approaching cyclonic storm Hud Hud.

It was decided that CESU would keep 37 parties ready to ensure efficient and early restoration of power supply in case of any outage. The Fire Officer was asked to station six rescue teams at vulnerable locations around the city.

Similarly, the Works Department will set up an emergency control room which would monitor restoration works by its teams at 32 locations here. Around 200 workers, JCB machines and supervisors have been deployed for removal of uprooted trees and other obstructions, if any, from the city roads post cyclone.

The BMC-run kalyan mandaps will be opened up to provide shelter to the affected persons during this period.

Two ODRAF teams will be present in Modern Control Room at the Commissionerate Police headquarters to attend to any exigent situation. Besides, all the police stations and PCR van staff have been directed to be prepared and attend to any distress call.
