Delay in Crop Survey Irks Farmers

JEYPORE: The farmers affected by cyclone Hud Hud have expressed their resentment over delay on the part of Revenue Department in taking up survey of damaged crop in the tribal district. During the visit of State BJD spokesman and former minister Rabi Narayan Nanda, they sought intervention of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik so that they can get compensation soon.

Nanda visited cyclone hit villages of Dhanpur, Kanga, Ekamaba, Badakudi, Umuri, Bodjeuna, Solapa, Garudaguda, Pamphuni and Anta areas and interacted with the farmers.

Talking to media persons, Nanda said the Chief Minister has already asked the administration to take relief measures but the local administration was delaying the process. He assured the irked farmers of taking up the matter with the Chief Minister and senior officials.

According to sources, paddy crop in more than 12,000 hectares, sugarcane in 2,000 hectares, corn in 500 acres were totally damaged in the cyclone.
