BHUBANESWAR: Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar has successfully carried out the advanced carotid arterectomy surgery to resolve blocks in the brain blood vessels that can prove fatal or lead to severely debilitating conditions like paralysis in stroke patients.
The neurosurgery procedure, presently done in only a few specialised centres in India like NIMHANS, was conducted by senior consultant Dr Debabrata Biswal on a 38-year-old patient who had 72 per cent block in the main blood vessel to the brain after suffering a stroke. He has recovered well.
Apollo Hospitals has also marked another milestone by crossing 500 joint replacement surgeries by its department of Orthopaedics.
