Basant Behura Passes Away

BHUBANESWAR: Former vice-chancellor of Utkal University Professor Basant Kumar Behura died at his Kharavela Nagar residence here on Monday. He was 94.

An internationally acclaimed Biologist, Behura was the vice-chancellor of Utkal University in 1980. He received many prestigious awards, including the Biju Patnaik Award for Wildlife Conservation, Kalinga Samman and Samant Chandrasekhar Puraskar during his illustrious career. He has several books on wildlife to his credit. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
