BHUBANESWAR: Lord Jagannath’s evergreen Bhakti Sangeets popularly known as Odia Bhajans will soon be mounted on YouTube for thousands of devotional music lovers across the world.

This unique initiative will be launched by the public service broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) soon, said Director General, AIR F Sheheryar during release of the first tranche of the Bhati Sangeet CD at Puri on the eve of Rath Yatra.

He said AIR-Odia live streaming would be available very soon in the Internet as well as in Mobile Apps.

The CD contains 13 Bhakti Sangeets/Bhajans sung by late Nimaicharan Harichandan, Balakrushna Das, Shyam Sundar Kar, Bhikarichanran Bal, Raghunath Panigrahi, Akhaya Mohanty, Mohammad Sikandar Alam, Markandeya Mohapatra, Kashinath Pujapanda, Radhakrushna Bhanja, Shyamamani Devi, Snehalata Praharaj and Kalyani Bhattacharjee.

These devotional songs of 1960s and 1970s were collected from the archives of AIR, Cuttack. More such Bhakti Sangeets collected from AIR archives in three CDs will be released soon, the AIR DG said.

The Bhakti Sangeet CDs were released by Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb in presence of senior officers of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration and All India Radio.
