Odisha to Generate More Than Three Lakh Jobs by 2020

BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has fixed an ambitious target of attracting investment of 1, 73,000 crore in different sectors with an aim to generate more than three lakh jobs by 2019-20.

This was decided at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Friday where he reviewed the activities of Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICOL).

It was decided that the State Government will soon announce a new industrial policy. Besides, a separate policy is also being prepared for development of ancillary industries. Vision-2019, with an aim to promote industries in backward areas, was discussed at the meeting.

It was decided that priority will be given to value addition to generate more employment through labour intensive industries.

The Chief Minister advised officials to make the single window system more effective and functional.

Besides, the Chief Minister also asked IPICOL to review the progress of projects which have been approved.

A decision was taken to organise a global investors meet in 2016. Besides, the State Government will also participate in national and international events to attract investment to the State.

The Chief Minister will review progress of projects every month.

Industries Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, Chief Secretary GC Pati and senior officials attended the meeting.
