Meet on Rail Factory Inconclusive

Express News Service

BHUBANESWAR: The Assembly committee on railways, which met on Thursday to discuss the shifting of wagon repair factory from Narla in Kalahandi district to Visakhapatnam, remained inconclusive due to lack of consensus.

Proceedings in the House were disrupted for two days over the issue following which members cutting across partylines had agreed to submit a memorandum to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu in this regard.

During discussion in the House over the issue, Leader of Opposition Narsingh Mishra had proposed that the memorandum should also request the Railway Minister to set up wagon factories at Kantabanji and Rourkela.

However, there was no consensus between the ruling and Opposition members at the meeting presided by Speaker Niranjan Pujari. Mishra told mediapersons that the committee will meet again.

Senior BJD MLA Amar Prasad Satpathy said there will be another round of meeting as members felt the issue needs to be discussed in detail.
