Samiti to Display Arms During Hanuman Jayanti

SAMBALPUR: Members of Hanuman Jayanti Samanwaya Samiti here have decided to display arms and weapons during the Hanuman Jayanti procession here by the ‘akhadas’ on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on April 13.

Last year, the district administration had banned display of arms and on the ground that it is not even allowed during Muharram procession. Prohibitory orders were also clamped.

The administration had reasoned that as display of arms can lead to law and order situation, the Samiti should refrain from displaying them at the Hanuman Jayanti procession.

Speaking to mediapersons on Thursday, Samiti advisor  Pradeep Bohidar said the rally will begin on Monday and conclude on Hanuman Jayanti day. He said display of weapons has been a part of the ‘akhada’ tradition since 1992.
