Pensioners Harassed

Express News Service

JAIPUR: The lone senior clerk post in Dharmasala Sub-Treasury office of the district is lying vacant for the last eight months resulting in harassment to pensioners.

Due to vacancy, around 3,000 pension holders and 30 Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) of the area are facing difficulties in withdrawing their money every month. Even the situation has prompted many beneficiaries to bribe other staff of the office to get their work done, sources said.  A local retired teacher said many old-age people visit the Sub-Treasury office daily to settle their pension but due to vacancy, they are being harassed. Collector Satya Kumar Mallik said he would inform the authorities concerned to fill up the vacancy.
