KENDRAPARA: Anti-socials hurled country bombs at two places near Paradip-Daitary expressway and injured a pedestrian triggering tension in Marshaghai area in Kendrapara district, police said.

At least six criminals on two motor bikes resorted to bomb throwing at Biju Pattnaik chowk in Ashram-Balikuda village and at Mangala chowk yesterday after which they escaped.

At least six bombs were hurled in which a pedestrian Pradeep Sahu (40) sustained injury at Mangala chowk.

The country bombs were of low intensity, the police said. In a panic reaction, the shopkeepers have downed their shutters. Police have intensified vigil at the entry and exit routes to NH and adjoining areas.

Extortion is believed to be the motive behind the incident. Daring crime of this nature at busy marketplaces might have been perpetrated by organized crime syndicate active in this part, the police said.
