Odisha government hikes Dearness Allowance by 7 per cent

BHUBANESHWAR: The government today hiked the dearness allowance (DA) for the employees and dearness relief for pensioners by seven percent with retrospective effect from July, 2016. The hike in the DA for employees and TI for pensioners was announced by chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the state secretariat here.

The decision to benefit nearly four lakh employees and three lakh pensioners will cost the exchequer `540 crore for eight months. The additional burden per annum will be `810 crore. The DA for the state government employees has now increased to 132 percent from 125 percent.
