Tension over 'Kansa Badha' Venue Change

Express News Service

BARGARH: Even as the  Dhanu Yatra Organising Committee headed by CollectorAnjan Kumar Manik  has decided to change the venue for the last fourday proceedings of Dhanu Yatra including ‘Kansa Badha’, the decision has  not gone down well with the locals. The final episodes of the Yatra are being held at Hatpada for the  last 66 years.

Over the years, Hatpada has been crammed up with   more number of shops. While the committee claimed that the change of venue is necessary in wake of large number of people visiting Hatpada during the event, locals said this would be a deviation from the six-decade-long tradition. A meeting conductedbetween the district administration and Hatpada  residents over the issue on Thursday remained inconclusive. Bargarh SP Ashis Singh said the decision was taken in larger interest of people.
