30 State Cops to Get President's Medal

BHUBANESWAR:  Inspector General of Police Debasish Panigrahi and Special Secretary, Home Lalit Das have been selected for the President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service this year.

As many as 30 police officers and personnel from Odisha have been selected for the Police Medals including Gallantry, Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service. Five jail officials from the State have also been selected for their excellent performance in prison reforms.

Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra, Additional SP Santosh Mall, Inspector Niranjan Patra, Sub-Inspector Himanshu Sekhar Rath, havildars Puturaj Kurumi, Santosh Juang and Jitendra Kumar Dash, constables Prabhat Kumar Barada, Ganesh Behera, Santanu Majhi, Mohan Parja, Aditya Ranjan Dash, Sarbeswar Behera, Anup Mohanty, Sukhiram Rana along with Lance Naik Surjeet Mandal have been selected for Police Medals for Gallantry.

Southern Range DIG Amitabh Thakur, Northern Range DIG Prateek Mohanty, NCR Talcher DIG Yatindra Koyal, Nayagarh SP Manoranjan Mohanty, Bargarh DSP Jashobanta Senapati, SDPO, Borigumma, Koraput Udhab Charan Naik, SDPO, Dhenkanal Rajkishore Dora, Inspector, Vigilance Directorate Sisir Kumar Sahoo, ASI Police Motor Transport (PMT) Bhramarabara Samal, driver havildar, PMT Bauribandhu Sahoo and sepoy, OSAP 6th Batallion Kartik Chandra Samal have been selected for Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Assistant Jailor of Jagatsinghpur District Jail Rabindranath Barik will receive the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service while Titlagarh Sub-jail Superintendent Subhakanta Mishra, Jailor, Dhenkanal district jail Satyaprakash Swain, district probation officer, Dhenkanal Subash Chandra Pradhan and Assistant Jailor, Barbil Sub-jail Surendra Barik will receive the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service.

As many as 841 personnel from across the country are awarded Police Medals on the occasion of the Republic Day this year.
