NVBDCP additional director visits dengue-hit areas

CUTTACK: Additional Director of National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme (NVBDCP) Dr PK Sen on Wednesday visited dengue-affected Jagatpur industrial area in Cuttack district to take stock of the situation.

He also held discussion with IDCO and CMC authorities and suggested short and long term dengue management plan. Asking to link mass clean-up campaigns with 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', Sen suggested that source reduction and environmental sanitation be taken up in all towns and panchayats.

With detection of 35 new cases, including 33 in Jagatpur industrial area, the number of dengue affected persons touched 277 on the day.

Reviewing dengue management activities in CMC area, RDC (Central) AB Ota directed to expedite and intensify cleanliness drive and sanitation programmes. He asked CMC officials to clean roads, open places and premises of all closed industries located in Jagatpur and Khapuria industrial areas.

As per the decision taken at the review meeting, each industrial house has been asked to procure fogging machines and clean their premises.
