BHUBANESWAR: In a bid to scale up revenue generation to invest in a slew of development projects in the City, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to streamline holding tax collection process by the beginning of 2017. In the council meeting held here on Monday, the BMC set an agenda for financial reforms and restructuring targets on holding tax, advertisement and parking.

The Corporation has set a revenue collection target of `90 crore in next fiscal. ‘’While GIS mapping work for proper assessment of property tax has almost been completed, the field survey will start by the end of this month. The officials have been advised to prepare a realistic budget,’’ said Mayor AN Jena. Issues like parking and sanitation were also highlighted by corporators in the meeting.

The Bhubaneswar Town Centre District (BTCD) will soon introduce hi-tech modes in street sweeping and sanitation. Automatic road sweeping vehicles will be introduced in the smart city town centre area. BSCL will procure these vehicle as per the model introduced in Ludhiana and Amritsar. Tender process will start soon for engagement of street sweeping vehicles. There will be separate bins and containers for collection of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, Jena added.
