Puri development plans drawn

PURI: A number of development works for Puri would be executed under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) Scheme.

At a meeting here on Monday, it was resolved to construct a modern pilgrim shelter in Bagala Dharmasala campus at a cost of Rs  17.5 crore. The dharmasala is located along the Grand Road near municipal market square.

Another Rs 55 lakh would be spent to create pilgrim facility on Gundicha temple campus while a multi-storey parking facility for four wheelers would be constructed near flag pole close to beach at a cost of Rs 5.41 crore.

Funds would also be spent on beautification of river Musa near Atharnalla, the entry point to the city, and Rs 10.47 crore would be spent to develop a sea water sport complex near Ramchandi beach. It has also been decided to spend Rs 3.54 crore to develop Deuli mutt near Kakatpur where Daitapatis had spent about a fortnight awaiting the celestial dream about the location of Darus.

With an aim to create several facilities on Kakatpur Mangala temple campus, Rs 21 lakh would be spent.

District Magistrate Arabind Agarwal, Chairman of Lodging House Fund Committee Sabyasachi Mahapatra, Regional Transport Officer BK Senapati, Executive Engineer of National Highways Jalandhar Pradhan, Project Director DRDA Srikant Tarei, Tourist Officer BK Jena, MD of ITDC AK Behuria and temple administrator PK Hota attended the meeting which was presided over by Chairman of Nabakalebara Infrastructure Development Monitoring Committee Maheswar Mohanty.
