MALKANGIRI: In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old tribal woman was raped in broad daylight at roadside near MV-84 village under Malkangiri police limits on Wednesday.The incident came to light on Friday after video of the incident went viral in social media.
Sources said the tribal woman of Udupa village in an inebriated condition was returning from Padmagiri weekly market when she fell unconscious on the roadside near MV-84 village. Later, a man passing through the road committed the crime in full public glare at about 11.30 am. While no one stopped him from committing the crime, many captured the act in their mobile phones.
Though the incident came to light on Friday, neither the family members of the victim nor the villagers have lodged FIR with the police.When contacted, Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena said no FIR has been lodged so far. However, police will start investigation into the matter from Saturday.
