BHUBANESWAR: THE State Government has decided to start Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) drive in Ganjam district and areas under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation in four rounds from October to January.

At the State Task Force meeting for IMI chaired by Health Secretary Dr Pramod Kumar Meherda on Tuesday, it was decided to start the drive for a week from October 7 in campaign mode.
During the drive, the focus will be on low coverage areas, urban slums, hard to reach areas like brick kilns, construction sites and sub-centres facing shortage of health staff.

“Asha, Anganwadi workers and link volunteers will visit house to house for head count survey and identify drop out and left out children due for vaccination. The children will be vaccinated during the drive,” he said.

In the preparatory phase, all health staff including medical officer, lady health visitor, NHM staff, health worker, Asha and Anganwadi workers will be trained for successful implementation of the drive.  
The IMI is included under Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (Pragati) scheme and monitored by Prime Minister’s office.

The timeline for each activity to be carried out for the drive has been developed and shared with the district. The aim of IMI is to achieve full immunisation coverage of more than 90 per cent in all districts.  
It has also been decided to involve personnel from Women and Child Development, Education, Panchayati Raj and Information and Public Relations Department for successful implementation of the drive.  The district-level workshop for medical officers and health staff in Ganjam and Bhubaneswar urban area has been completed. The progress of activities and achievement will be reviewed every month.
