DHENKANAL: A truck carrying cattle was detained by a group of Bajrang Dal activists and police at Bhuban on Thursday. The cattle were being allegedly smuggled to Kolkata fromKamakshyanagar here. On a tip off, the activists intercepted the vehicle at Bhuban and found cattle being transported in it. They informed the Bhuban Police who detained the truck driver. Later, the animals were sent to a cattle shelter nearby. Following the incident, the activists and locals staged demonstration demanding a probe into frequent smuggling of cattle from Dhenkanal district. They further alleged that the smugglers were hand-in-glove with the police.
