Debi Prasad takes over as Directo General of DRI

BHUBANESWAR: Debi Prasad Dash, a 1985 batch IRS (Customs) officer, has taken over as Director General of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).DRI is the premier national agency in the field of anti-smuggling and black money in India. Dash was acting head of DRI for past five months. He is the first officer from Odisha to hold the coveted post.

Dash has earlier worked in UN Security Council, New York, Commonwealth Secretariat, London and CBI. A recipient of the President's Award for specially distinguished record of service and Merit Award from the World Customs Organisation (WCO), he was appointed by UN Secretary General as Head of International Panel of Experts of the UN Security Council, monitoring arms embargo, travel ban and financial sanctions in Africa.

Dash was also a member of the INTERPOL Working Group on Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism.
