BHUBANESWAR: After announcement of a judicial probe into the Kunduli gang-rape incident, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram hit out at the State Government saying the belated decision is a ‘drama’.
“This is nothing but a drama. The State Government should stop playing politics over the incident else the people of the area will give a befitting reply. If a judiciary inquiry was to be set up then why was the decision not taken from day one by the Chief Minister,” Oram questioned.

Accusing the ruling party of politicising the issue, the Union Minister said he had strong suspicion on the involvement of BJD people in the incident though he has no proof to establish it.
Reacting to Oram’s allegations, BJD MP Balabhadra Majhi said the State Government has taken necessary steps for finding the truth and bringing the culprits to books. The investigation is going on in right direction and it would not be fair to point fingers at the investigating officers. It is the opposition which is trying to politicise the issue not the State Government, he said.

Senior Congress leader and former minister Jaydev Jena said nothing will come out of the investigation by multiple agencies as the State Government does not want the truth to come out. Since judicial probe is a time consuming process, he said by the time the final report is submitted people will forget the incident.
