TALCHER: Talcher Thermal Power Station (TTPS) has grabbed the first rank among NTPC stations with a plant load factor (PLF) of 93.8 per cent in the current fiscal. The station also came second in All-India PLF ranking among coal-fired thermal power plants.

With improved availability factor of 92.3 per cent compared to 91.88 per cent in 2016-17 besides the scheduled generation of 100.3 per cent against the declared capacity, TTPS is continuously adhering to the power needs of people of Odisha, stated an NTPC press release.With better operational and maintenance practices, the station has achieved more than 90 per cent PLF for the 10th consecutive year and sustained lowest specific oil consumption for the financial year, it said. There has been no accident in the station in this financial year.

TTPS has been adhering to some of the best practices for generation of accident-fee power like occupational health check-up of employees and contractual workers, inclusion of safety induction training prior to issuing gate passes, imparting training at safety park and conducting external safety audits through National Safety Council. TTPS recently completed its 5o-year of commercial generation of the first unit on February 7.
