JEYPORE: The health administration of Koraput has geared up to combat as many as 11 diseases among children aged below five years in the sensitive pockets under Prime Minister’s ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’ (Mission Indradhanush).Adequate manpower has been earmarked to make the project a success in the tribal areas of the district. Koraput is one of the districts of Odisha selected by the Central Government to be included under Mission Indradhanush, which is aimed at bringing down infant and maternal mortality rate. As many as 342 villages in the district have been identified for implementation of the project.

The Health Ministry has identified 1,729 children aged below two years and 473 pregnant women for vaccination under the programme at 2019 centres. Around 5,000 health workers, ASHA and anganwadi workers have been engaged in the programme which was started from July 15 and would continue till July 24. Collector KS Chakravarti has been monitoring the progress of Mission Indradhanush daily.
