PARADIP: Jagatsinghpur district administration on Tuesday clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC at Essar factory’s main gate to prevent any untoward incident after a section of workers threatened the company’s management of launching protest. Executive Magistrate of Kujang, Ramesh Chandra Panda, passed the order to restrict the assembly of five or more persons at the factory gate.

Demanding jobs for displaced families and other benefits, the members of Paradip Essar Steel India Workers Union warned the authorities of paralysing the factory’s functioning by staging protest in front of its main gate. After receiving threats from the union, Joint-General Manager (HR) R K Mohanty sought intervention of the district administration to maintain normalcy at the plant.
