BHUBANESWAR: Eggs were hurled at BJD's Rajya Sabha member Anubhav Mohanty, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda and Ersama MLA Prashant Muduli allegedly by supporters of former Minister and Paradip MLA Damodar Rout during 'Ravana Podi' at Ersama on Saturday.
Sources said supporters of Rout, who was recently expelled from the ruling party, were peeved at Muduli attending the function at Anchalika Yuva Parishad ground amid tight security.Despite, presence of a large number of police personnel, the miscreants managed to throw eggs and sand at Mohanty, Panda and Muduli.
They even deflated the tyres of a few vehicles at the venue. Police had to resort to mild lathicharge to bring the situation under control. Later, speaking at the function, Mohanty advised the miscreants to feed the eggs to their children instead of hurling them at him. Police detained two persons for their alleged involvement in the incident.
