BHUBANESWAR: Alleging large-scale manipulation behind the victory of BJP’s Jay Dholakia in Nuapada bypoll, BJD candidate Snehangini Chhuria on Sunday announced that she has rejected the verdict.

Addressing a media conference along with Bhubaneswar mayor Sulochana Das here, Chhuria alleged that the election result was not a true reflection of the people’s mandate.

“I do not accept the result which has come in machines (EVMs),” she said.

Chhuria questioned the voting percentage in the bypoll, stating it was very unusual that there was more than 90 per cent voter turnout in at least 41 booths.

“This type of voting rarely takes place and indicates massive rigging with the help of the election officials, district administration and police. Therefore, I reject the bypoll result,” she said.
