BERHAMPUR: At least 34 minor boys, allegedly being trafficked to Hyderabad, were rescued by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) from the Falaknuma Express at Berhampur railway station on Saturday.

The rescued children are aged between 11 and 14 years. Acting on a tip-off about the alleged trafficking of the minors, an RPF team conducted a thorough check of the train and rescued the boys. IIC of Berhampur RPF CV Ramanna said the boys were handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further verification.

Sources said the boys, hailing from West Bengal and Bihar, were reportedly travelling to Hyderabad for educational purposes along with two men. However, the duo accompanying them, who claimed to be their guardians, failed to produce valid documents to escort the minors.

GRP IIC Arati Pradhan said the duo accompanying the boys have been detained and are being questioned.
