BARIPADA: Director General of Police YB Khurania on Thursday visited Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj to review security arrangements ahead of the visit of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the district on June 19.
The DGP assessed operational readiness and security arrangements besides inspecting the proposed programme venues and the Dandbose airstrip. He also reviewed traffic management, travel routes, crowd control measures and CCTV surveillance.
The President and the prime minister are scheduled to attend a programme at Rairangpur on June 20 to mark the completion of two years of the BJP government in the state.
Officials said President Murmu will arrive in Mayurbhanj on June 19, while PM Modi is expected to reach the district the next day. The prime minister is scheduled to visit Uparbeda and Pahadpur near Badampahar, the villages associated with the President.
He will also visit the SLS Memorial Residential School, established in memory of the President’s late husband and two sons, besides inspecting a skill development centre.
Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi are also expected to attend the programmes.
Police said security has been tightened across Rairangpur with checkpoints strengthened at key entry points.
