35-year-old dies in accident in Ganjam

The deceased was identified as Gangadhar Panigrahi of Balipada under Sadar police limits.

BERHAMPUR: A 35-year-old man was reportedly crushed to death under the wheels of an unidentified vehicle on Berhampur-Digapahandi road in Ganjam district on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Gangadhar Panigrahi of Balipada under Sadar police limits.

Family members said Gangadhar left home at around 5 am to take bath in the village pond. While he was crossing the road, an unidentified vehicle ran over him and sped away. Locals found Gangadhar dead with his head crushed and informed his family members.

The deceased’s brother Gagan Panigrahi (29) later lodged a report in Sadar police station basing on which a case was registered. After postmortem at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, the body was handed over to the bereaved family. Police said efforts are on to identify the vehicle involved in the mishap and nab its driver. Further investigation is underway.
