BHUBANESWAR: The Housing and Urban Development department on Sunday announced to launch a statewide urban outreach programme on June 24 to commemorate two years of the new government.

The initiative aims to deepen citizen engagement, showcase key achievements in urban development and encourage greater public participation in shaping Odisha’s urban future.

The programme to be inaugurated by H&UD minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra in Puri will be rolled out across all urban local bodies (ULBs).

The programme will be organised under the theme ‘Jan Bhagidari for Viksit Odisha: Empowered Citizens - Inclusive Cities - Sustainable Urban Future’ which seeks to bridge the information gap between government initiatives and citizens. It will highlight the progress achieved over the last two years in urban sectors such as drinking water supply, sanitation, affordable housing, urban infrastructure, public transport and digital governance, said officials.

Beneficiaries of various central and state government schemes, including the SAHAJOG initiative, will receive work orders, sanction letters and entitlement documents on the day.

The programme will also recognise and honour the contributions of sanitation workers, tax collectors, SHGs, community partners and other frontline urban service providers.
