CHENNAI: The Congress, which has an alliance with Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK, wants to contest from two of the five assembly constituencies where by-elections are to be held.

State Congress president K.V. Thankabalu told reporters that he had met Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and told him that the party would like to contest from Thondamuthur and Srivaikundam.

Srivaikundam was represented by M. Selvaraj of the Congress and his death has led to the by-poll.
