CHENNAI: Most of the cadre who have switched over to Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (PDK) from the K Veeramani-led Dravidar Kazhagam criticised their previous party saying it had become an ‘Asset Protection Party’. They also accused the DK of playing second fiddle to any party that came to power in the state.

More than 100 DK cadre from districts like Ariyalur, Perambalur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Kanchipuram and North Chennai have officially registered themselves as members of the PDK in the presence of its leader Kolathur Mani on Tuesday.

Detailing his bitter experiences to the new party chief and reasons for joining the PDK, Asvadhaman from Kanchipuram said, “Though DK was started only to propagate the ideologies of the great leader Thanthai Periyar in the state, of late, the current president of the party K Veeramani deviated from it and made it just an ``asset protection party.”
