PUDUCHERRY: Despite the Deputy Collector and Sub Divisional magistrate, North, P Jawahar issuing notices to commissioners of municipality and commune panchayats to remove the illegal banners, posters, hoardings and cut outs dotting the town to comply with the  Prevention of Disfigurement Act, the supporters of Chief minister N Rangasamy have posed a challenge to the enforcement agencies in this regard.

With the birthday of Rangasamy coming up on August 4, all major points in the town including the traffic signals have been dotted with banners and posters. Even on the highways small cutouts line the sides of the roads as well as the medians.  The rural areas have not been spared either.

The CPI has expressed concern over the banner culture and the stance of the enforcement agencies on the issue.

The reaction of the  chief minister to the issue is yet to be seen.
