CHENNAI: About 2,500 students have been called to attend the second round of counselling for MBBS and BDS courses that would begin on July 28 and continue till August 4, said a government release on Monday.

The early announcement of the phase-II of counselling comes as a boon for the students who have applied for both medical and engineering admissions and have already obtained admission cards in engineering.

It will help them take a decision about joining medical courses before paying the admission fees for their engineering seat, according to officials.

The first phase of counselling for medical courses, including MBBS and BDS, took place from June 30 to July 6.

“The students have been called for counselling on the cut off ranking basis and the allotments will be made keeping in mind the 69 per cent caste-based reservation policy,” said Sheela Grace Jeevamani, secretary of selection committee of Directorate of Medical Education.
