ERODE: The action of Collector T Soundiah in nullifying an action of Gobi RDO Meena Priyadarshini, who relieved two staff in his office from duty, has averted an unnecessary trouble in the Revenue Department, which is managing the entire Assembly poll.
A few days ago, the RDO, who joined the post afresh after getting success in Group I examination, issued orders on March 8 relieving a junior assistant Vijayakumar and typist-cum-steno Kalaiselvi from work on charge that they did not attend election work properly.
As per the norm, after issuance of such order, Collector’s nod is required to get posting somewhere else. As the officer did not seek explanation from the staff and took action suo moto without consulting higher ups, the TN Revenue Officials Association staged a demonstration in front of RDO office.
When the RDO planned to take action against a deputy tahsildar in her office, the staff have decided to resort to work-to-rule stir.
But, after the Collector ordered cancellation of RDO’s order, they withdrew the stir.
