Vasur Raja admits role in doctor’s murder

Vasur Raja confessed to the murder of BJP State Medical Wing Secretary Dr V Arvinth Reddy (38), during police interrogation, said sources in the police department. They added that extortion was the motive behind the murder.

Police produced Vasur Raja alias Raja (26),  around 4.15 pm before the court on Friday and submitted his confession statement to the Magistrate of Judicial Magistrate Court- I M Akiladevi. He was later taken back to Cuddalore prison.

“We submitted the signed confession statement of Vasur Raja, admitting that he had plotted the murder of Dr Reddy, to the magistrate. Extortion was the motive behind the murder. He had threatened the doctor and demanded several lakhs of rupees. When the doctor refused to bow down to their threats, they murdered him,” said a senior police officer.Vasur Raja was interrogated by DIG of Vellore Range M T Ganeshmoorthy, SP I Eswaran and DSP of Vellore Sub-Division Dhakshinamoorthy. During the interrogation, he disclosed the identity of two other persons involved in the murder. The police launched a search for the duo.

Police had already arrested six persons in the murder of Dr Reddy, who was murdered in front of his clinic in Kosapet on October 23.
