PUDUCHERRY: Police on Friday arrested four persons in connection with a country bomb attack involving two rival gangs recently.

The arrested have been identified as S Karthick (23), S Chandru (23), V Dinesh (20) and H Karthick (24).  

Two more persons involved in the case were absconding, said SSP (Law and Order) V J Chandran. The arrested four had confessed that they had committed the offence at the instigation of Track Siva.

The incident took place at Kuruchikuppam on February 6 when gang members of notorious criminal Track Siva attacked members of rival Gnanavel’s gang with bombs.

The accused threw two bombs at Gnanavel and another person, who standing near their house at Maravady street, due to the existence of previous enmity.

The bombs, however, hit the compound wall of a house and exploded causing injuries to Gnanavel’s mother Lakshmi and another person.

Chandran said the police had recovered a long knife and three motorcycles used by the accused. He added that the two absconding persons would be nabbed soon.

They were nabbed by a team led by SP (North) N T Sivadasan, Inspector Angappan and sub-inspector P Krishnan of Muthialpet police station.
