1 held for abducting newborn

A newborn girl, who was abducted from the Tirupur GH on Monday, was rescued from a woman near Palladam on Tuesday. The woman was later arrested. Police said Ravi’s wife Thenmozhi, on June 22, gave birth to her second child at the Tirupur hospital. On delivery, the newborn was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) due to some illness. On Monday, the baby was lifted from the hospital. Police upon inspecting CCTV footage found a couple handing over the baby to another woman on the hospital premises.

On Tuesday, a Chandrapuram PHC employee alerted cops of a couple who brought a newborn girl baby to their centre under suspicious circumstances.  They rushed to the spot and arrested the woman. Grilled, the woman, who identified herself as Nagarathinam  confessed to having stolen the baby with the help of her husband Sivakumar.
