NAGERCOIL: Former DMK Nagercoil MLA A Rajan’s house and business establishments at Nagercoil were raided by the sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) on Wednesday.

District DVAC DSP Sunderrajan told Express, on specific information that Rajan had acquired movable and immovable assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The DVAC had filed a case on Tuesday (March 20). As part of the investigation, DVAC teams conducted searches at Rajan’a house at Puthukudiiruppu in Nagercoil and his business establishment named Vimala Furnitures, located at Ozhigunessery in the town on Wednesday (March 21) and seized some documents, the DSP said.

It may be noted that A Rajan, an active members of the DMK, had quit the party during the 2011 Assembly elections and joined the AIADMK. Rajan told reporters that his opponents, who did not like him joining the AIADMK, had send false complaints to the DVAC.

Acting on such complaints the DVAC had conducted raids at his house, added Rajan.
