Ten panchayats in Thalavadi, six in Sathy and three in Bavanisagar blocks decided to send resolutions to the Centre, State and Union forest and environment ministry in this regard.

The elected leaders of the rural bodies along with Bhavanisagar member of legislative Assembly P L Sundaram (CPI) will meet Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and Forest Minister on May 7 to discuss the issue.

The resolution said that the Sathy forest division was the largest one in the State and was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 2008 itself.

After this the Forest Department laid a lot of restrictions on people moving inside the forest.

Even though funds were sanctioned by the Education Department, the Forest Department did not allow the construction of school buildings in these areas.
