NAGERCOIL: A total of 12 persons, including a two-and-a-half-year-old child, were affected with Dengue fever and were getting treatment in various private clinics here, sources from the health department said.

The health authorities have sent all the 12 blood samples for Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) test to Tirunelveli.  The dengue causing mosquito’s larvae were also found in most of the affected areas and fogging operations have begun. The death of a woman from Mulucodu near Arumanai, who was suffering from fever for the past few days, sparked off confusion. She died at a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

The health department, quoting medical reports, said she died of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome and not of Dengue.
