VELLORE: Residents of Maniyarakuppam village held a protest on Sunday in front of the TASMAC outlet in Veerankuppam village, demanding that it be shifted away from Ambur.
Protestors complained that the year-old TASMAC shop in Maniyarakuppam, has now been shifted to the Veerangkuppam following several protests. The villagers said that the new TASMAC shop, inaugurated on Saturday at Veerankuppam village, is a few hundred metres from its initial location.
On Sunday, protestors gathered in front of the TASMAC outlet said the new shop would morally corrupt people of both Maniyarakuppam and Veerangkuppam as it is located at the confluence of both villages.
The protest was withdrawn after protestors decided to submit a petition in to Collector Ajay Yadav.
