Express News Service

PMK founder leader Dr S Ramadoss on Friday demanded a judicial inquiry into the Marakkanam riots by a High Court judge and alleged that the VCK was behind the “pre-planned” violence. He also accused the police for “inaction,” and “improper” handling of the situation.

In a statement, Ramadoss condemned the police firing and demanded stern action against VCK supporters for alleged killing of two of his partymen.

Stating that many obstacles were posed to prevent the Chithirai Muzhu Nilavu Peruvizha, Ramadoss, without naming Thirumavalavan alleged that the “VCK leader” had instigated “attacks” against Vanniyars through media interviews and statements. “Only against this background, Vanniyars have been attacked,” he alleged.

Pointing out that his party cadres were attacked while having eating under a tree on the road near Marakkanam, he said another group assaulted them which arrived a few minutes later. They attacked the vehicles of partymen bound for Mamallapuram, as well, he charged.

Also, certain men on a two wheeler told his party workers near Puthupattu Ayyanar Koil that attacks will be carried out near Marakkanam. Another group torched over 10 hutments, set ablaze 6 vehicles and falsely accused the innocents for the violence.

Arguing that his partymen who were passing through Marakkanam that witnessed violence were rank outsiders, he said the VCK perpetrated the pre-planned violence.
