69th birth anniversary of Rajiv observed

The 69th birth aniversery of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was observed as Sadhbhavana Diwas. Chief Minister N Rangasamy administered the ‘Sadhbhavana Diwas’ (Harmony Day) pledge to ministers, legislators and officials here on Tuesday.

Floral tributes were paid to late Prime Minister at Ellapillaichavady to mark the occasion.

Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president A V Subramanian, leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam and party functionaries garlanded the statue.

Religious prayers and patriotic songs were sung. Representatives of Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities presented excerpts from their religious books. Devotional songs were also sung by teachers of Bharathiar Palkalai Koodam (a government-run multi-cultural institution).
