Kongu Party Hints at Forging LS Poll Alliance with BJP

The Desiya Samuthaya Koottamaipu led by the Kongu Nadu Munnetra Kazhagam (KNMK) leader ‘Best’ S Ramasamy has indicated that the party would form an alliance with the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The Desiya Samuthaya Koottamaipu led by the Kongu Nadu Munnetra Kazhagam (KNMK) leader ‘Best’ S Ramasamy has indicated that the party would form an alliance with the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. He was speaking at meeting held at Ramanathapuram in the city here on Sunday.

Out of the 39 constituencies in the State, the Desiya Samuthaya Koottamaipu would contest in 22 constituencies. Ramasamy, president of KNMK announced six of its candidates for contesting in the Lok Sabha polls, five of them from the western region and one in the southern region.

In Coimbatore constituency Nandu, who is a State propaganda secretary would be fielded. In Tirupur, Pongalur Manikandan State president of Kongu Vellala Goundarkal Peravai would contest, while in Erode M Thangavel, the State general secretary of the party would enter the race.

Similarly, In Pollachi, R Govindasamy would be fielded and in Dharmapuri P Saravanan, State deputy general secretary would be fielded and in Ramanathapuram S Ganesadevar founder of All India Devar Pervai would contest.

“The first list of candidates would not be changed even if any alliance was finalised in future. We would join hands with parties which accept our principles, he added. After announcing the first list of its candidates for Lok Sabha polls, Ramasamy said both the national parties Congress and BJP were approaching them to form alliances. Desiya Samuthaya Kottamaipu which was formed by the 54 organizations would make an alliance with a national party as the upcoming Lok Sabha would be at the national level.

When asked about the possibility of joining the BJP alliance, he said it was possible.
