The Vellore Corporation on Monday started clearing mud accumulated on the main road in the Kakithapattarai area of Sathuvachari zone, which was affecting motorists.
M Kannan, Town Planning Officer and Sathuvachari Zonal Officer said the clearance work was started after councillors complained of vehicles skidding and excessive dust hindering driving. At a recent zonal meeting, `2 lakh was allocated for the clearance work.
The general clearance work involves clearing of mud collected and used to fill low-lying areas. In zone-2, consisting wards 16 to 30, work in five wards of Sathuvachari has been completed, Kannan added.
Ward councillor K Dhamodharan said pending clearance work in streets of LIC Colony would be completed on Tuesday.
