Corporation takes in staff of newly added areas

Two years after 17 local bodies were added to the Integrated Vellore Corporation, as many as 238 employees, who had been employed in these local bodies were absorbed into the Corporation.

Vellore Municipality was upgraded as a Corporation in August 2008. In addition to this, two grade-3 municipalities, Sathuvachari and Tharapadavedu; six town panchayats,  Thorapadi, Allapuram, Shenbakkam, Kalinjur, Gandhi Nagar, Katpadi; and 9 village panchayats were added during the local body elections in October 2011.

Following this, Vellore Corporation was divided into four zones with Tharapadavedu, Sathuvachari,Vellore and Shenbakkam as its headquarters and each zone functioning with 15 wards.

After nearly two years, 238 permanent employees, who were working in various local bodies from these newly added areas, were absorbed into the Corporation.
