Anna University has planned to introduce identity card for faculty members of engineering colleges across the State.
The move is aimed at curbing impersonation and sharing of faculty members by private engineering colleges. “We want to streamline the entire system. Now, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission is going on and once the process is over, the university will form a committee to initiate the process of issuing identity cards to all faculty members of engineering colleges across the state,” said Anna University Vice Chancellor M Rajaram.
He further said, “This will require necessary software and the identity card, which will be similar to the voter identity card, will require photograph of the faculty members. Details including qualification, his/her date of birth, place of posting, salary details will also be included in the card.”
“The entire process of issuing IDs is expected to be completed by November or December, before Anna University teams visit the engineering colleges for granting affiliation,” he explained.
During his tenure as VC of the Anna University of Technology in Tirunelveli, Rajaram decided to issue ID card for faculty members of colleges under AUT Tirunelveli, but could not implement it as all AUTs were merged with the parent Anna University in Chennai.
