Express News Service

AIADMK State secretary A Anbazhagan on Saturday urged Chief Minister N Rangasamy to oppose the Food Security Ordinance. Addressing a press conference here, Anbazhagan demanded that Rangasamy seek exemption of Puducherry from implementation of the Food Security Act. Already 3.5 lakh families are covered under Public Distribution System. Once the act is implemented,  only 50 per cent of families in urban areas and 75 per cent in rural areas would be benefited. Around 33 per cent of people currently under the PDS system would be omitted, he said.
