Eight primary schools ordered shut for breach of norms

The Department of Elementary Education (DEE) here has taken steps to close down eight elementary schools that have been functioning without government permission.

DEE officer Arunmozhi said, of the 384 nursery and primary schools in the district, the following schools were found to be functioning without obtaining government permission: Sri Saibaba Nursery and Primary School, Mottur, (Sholinghur zone); Saraswathi Vidyalaya Nursery and Primary School, Odugathur (Anaicut); Padmashri Nursery and Primary school, Mandalavadi (Jolarpet); Sri Ramakrishna Nursery and Primary School, Mittur (Tirupattur); Pyramid Nursery and Primary school, Papanur (Tirupattur); Vetri Vikas Nursery and Primary School, Pappanur (Tirupattur); Sunbeam Nursery and Primary school, Sevvathur (Kandili); Sri Arunachalam Nursery and Primary school, Mambakkam (Timiri).

Since steps to fulfil the required norms were not taken, these schools have been asked to close immediately, the department said in a release.
